Final Crisis Tie-Ins

Published by joanne1938 at 8:59 pm under comics Edit This

Many apologies if I’ve already talked about this subject. But since it’s starting to go full swing, I’m going to talk about it again.

The tie-ins are coming! The tie-ins are coming!

As the third issue of Final Crisis goes on sale tomorrow, I’ve also noticed that the many tie-ins are also starting to show up. I just finished reading Requiem today, and I thought it was a wonderful tribute to the Martian Manhunter, even though I was sorry to see the guy die. I loved how they showed the other members of the JLA being informed of J’onn’s demise and how they all rallied together in his name. Nice one-shot.

Rogue’s Revenge is also getting started. The Flash’s Rogues gallery are some of the funniest villains in comics (and dumbest) so I can only imagine how this thing is going to play out. I don’t know that I’ll pick up the mini-series, but I’ll definitely keep an eye out on what happens.

One mini that I’m seriously considering picking up, even though I don’t even know much about the characters themselves is Legion of Three Worlds. My knowledge of the Legion of Super-Heroes (all of them) is very limited, but Geoff Johns is writing it and that immediately makes the mini worth picking up. Add in the most awesome bad guy out there in Superboy Prime, and there’s sure to be some fireworks.

Revelations is also one I’m going to be picking up and following closely. Greg Rucka and the Question are like milk and cookies–they make each other better. Put Q together with her old partner, Crispus Allen (as The Spectre), and it’s like a Gotham City Police Department reunion. This is going to be good. I guarantee it. And if people don’t think that Renee Montoya can handle an ongoing after this, I will seriously wonder if they are sane.

Last Will and Testament is that other one-shot that I’m looking forward to. It’s written by Brad Meltzer, who also gave us the amazing Identity Crisis. It seems his best gift to comics is writing the mushier, more emotional scenes of these crazy events that happen in the DC Universe. But hey, I’m all for it. I want to know what Batman and Wonder Woman say to each other when they think they’re down to their last night on Earth together. Does Red Arrow finally swallow his pride and admit that he’s in love with Hawkgirl? These are the questions–along with others–that I want to see answered.

I’m sure there’s others I want to see and read, but those are the ones that are starting in the next month. More of them start in September, so I’ll talk more about them as their shelf dates near.
