Villainous Villains, Part One

Published by joanne1938 at 9:36 pm under characters Edit This

Just like I did with my favorite characters, I’m going to do something similar and look into some of the villains in comics that really stand out to me. Unlike the character series though, I’m not going to count down from ten. Truth be told, I might not even do one every day until I’m done. These people aren’t necessarily my favorite villains, but simply ones that stand out to be as some of the great comic book villains. And yes, some of them give me goose bumps.

So in honor of the new Batman movie coming out soon, we’ll start with one that gives me the shivers.

Who else could it be, really? Honestly, my fear of clowns only makes it worse. And trust me, it’s a very real fear. And the Clown Prince of Crime, The Joker, is very scary to me.

I remember him showing up in a Superman book that I was reading a while back. It was a book from around the year 2000, and I can’t think of the name of the book right now. But I normally try to do my reading before I go to bed because it helps relax my mind, but seeing the Joker in the book made me hunt down something else to read before I went to bed because I only saw his face when I closed my eyes. The dude is genuinely creepy to me.

Historically, the Joker is probably one of Batman’s villains that has given him the most trouble. I could be wrong, but I believe he was responsible for the death of Jason Todd, the second Robin. He also tried to drive Commissioner Gordon insane, and in the process shot and permanently paralyzed his daughter, Barbara (who most people will remember was Batgirl until the accident).

Recently, he’s been a resident of Arkham Asylum, but many characters have found their way there to ask advice of him in a roundabout sort of way. Joker never really gives any straight answers, but he somehow has a wealth of knowledge of current events for a guy who’s been locked up. It’s all a big joke to him, which I guess is why he’s called the Joker.

Creepy. Just downright creepy.
