Getting Caught Up…Finally

Published by joanne1938 under comics Edit This

I have so much comic-related media I’m trying to catch up with right now. Today, as a birthday present to myself, I drove the 45 miles to the closest comic book shop and bought new comics for the first time in a month. And honestly, I haven’t even really had the chance to read through everything. I did read most of the newest issue of Robin, which is a tie-in with Batman R.I.P. Looks good so far, and I’m laughing at the flashbacks to Tim and Dick from a couple years ago. It’s not the kind of thing you get to see in comics very often.

I also picked up the first issue of the Batgirl miniseries. I don’t know much about the current Batgirl, Cassandra Cain, other than the fact that she’s the daughter of a well-known assassin and that’s she’s not always on Bruce Wayne’s good side. Really, it’s just a good way for me to learn more about a character by only committing to five issues instead of picking up The Outsiders and trying to understand it all from there.

I’m also excited for Green Arrow/Black Canary, and the newest issue of Tangent: Superman’s Reign. Tangent is one of those books I picked up on a whim a few months back, but have actually been enjoying. Everything is backwards. Superman’s a bad guy, and the Atom is the greatest superhero the world has ever known. It’s all very messed up, but still very fun.

I also probably have about 10 podcasts to listen to since the end of Comic-Con. To me, it’s just not the same to simply listen to the write-up found on all the websites. Sometimes, hearing the reactions of the people on the panel says much more than someone describing how the comment was made. I have some of the DC panels to listen to, a couple episodes of Comic Geek Speak, and tomorrow I’ll also have an episode of Raging Bullets in my queue. Goodie!
