Score!!
I don’t have much to say today. I haven’t been to the comic shop lately to stock up on my comics, so I have nothing new to discuss in reference to that. I do, however, have a fun thing to talk about–and it is comic-related.
A big interest among students at the school where I teach is manga, or Japanese-style comics. Because of their interest, we usually have a few good things to geek out about from time to time, even though I’ve never really become interested in manga, as I prefer American style, superhero comics. But today, I broke through and made one of them a hardcore fan of The Question.
I think I had mentioned Renee Montoya and her Question persona to her a while back, and now she’s re-creating a panel from 52 for me. I geeked out to her about the character one day in the Advisory class she has with me, and so I brought her the Crime Bible miniseries for her because she was interested in reading more of the character. And now, she’s totally addicted. SCORE!!! Tomorrow I’m taking her Gotham Central, Volume 2: Half a Life, which is the volume where Renee is outed as a lesbian and is framed for a murder.
Note to self: Must make sure to mention that Greg Rucka is the definitive Renee Montoya/The Question author. I have yet to see a story not penned by him, and I’m not sure I want to.
